Finally, the long awaited Irrecha festival of the Oromo people is going to be celebrated tomorrow.
The annually celebrated event is expected to be attended by over four million people including the region ethics and tourists from all over the world.
Celebrated every year in Bishoftu region near Lake Hora, Irrecha is a religious festival where the Oromo people came out and gather every year around that lake just to thank “Waqa”, their god.
According to Afendi Mutakis journal, written about the culture and history of the festival Irreecha is also called Irreessa .
Afendi, an Ethiopian ethnographer included many features about this festival as it is narrated by the very well known journalist Alemneh wase in the above video.
